You will need to verify the wind load and live load (snow load) requirements in your area prior to ordering your patio cover. You can obtain this information through your local building department.
Most building permits are obtained in two stages; building and planning. Building will require the engineering drawings and planning will require a plot plan or birds eye view of your property. They will want to know where the patio cover is in relation to you home. The drawing will need to show the distances of the sides and rear to the property lines. Coverkits will be glad to help with this process.
